Pam Glover was born in Wuhan, Hankow, China in 1924. Pam was known as one of the major plein air landscape artists in California. (1924-2010) “Plein Air Artist Northern California”
Pam then moved on to teach at a private school in England. Next she made her journey to the United States. Pam landed and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. She enrolled in the California College of Arts and Crafts and soon after began private instruction with Lundy Siegriest. Pam was able to paint with Lundy’s father, Louis Siegriest, who was a founder of the Society of Six.
Pam Glover painted mixed media sand painting with various sands or lovely red soil. Pam was able to control the wonderful crackling aging technique on many of her mixed media. Pam then expanded to paint in oil, producing canvases on site. She enjoyed these wonderful moments with generations of California impressionist. “Plein Air Painter California”
Pam had a magical ability and skill to transform what people thought, shantytowns, into something of great beauty. Pam could always see beyond and create its simple inner picture. Pam Glover captured the historical pas of many towns and farm homesteads of northern California and mining towns of Nevada and Europe. Pam Glover taught plein air classes for 25 years at the Orinda Community Center. She also taught many private workshops in California, Nevada, and Europe. Glover enjoyed the camaraderie of painting alongside other artists. Nature was Pam’s studio and finding new settings in which to paint was an ongoing adventure. Pam expanded her travels to Europe where she captured scenes in the famous picturesque art colony of Honfleur (Just outside Paris), northern Italy as well as Switzerland. Pam loved Switzerland and enjoyed painting the various seasons and many quaint villages and farms. During the Swiss winter, Pam would go out in the cold, set up her easel in the snow and capture the winter beauty. “Plein Air Artist Northern California”
